United States Presidential Election of 2024
Trump returned 312 to 226, winning the popular vote for the first Republican since 2004.
Overview
Donald Trump defeated Vice President Kamala Harris, who entered after Biden's July withdrawal, 312 to 226 with 49.8 percent, the first Republican popular-vote win in twenty years and a gain among nearly every demographic group. It made Trump only the second president, after Cleveland, elected to nonconsecutive terms, and the first convicted of felony charges to win. Immigration, inflation, and post-2020 turnout patterns shifted the entire map rightward, with every swing state going Republican, redrawing both parties' strategic assumptions.
